About Pack 1

At its core, Cub Scouts should be a fun activity that gives scouts and their “Akela” (Cub Scout lingo for Parent or Guardian) an opportunity to learn and grow.

Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting movement in the early 1900s, is credited with saying, “Scouting is a game with a purpose.”

For Cub Scout Pack 1, that purpose is not oriented in the ideology of any one group or community.

We feel that young people can explore their own interests and their families’ values while having fun.

Cub Scout Pack 1 is not a one-dimensional organization.  Some scouts enjoy camping, while others like earning achievements. Some scouts (and many Akela) like making Pinewood Derby Cars, others enjoy trips to the zoo, and others enjoy the beach.  And, of course, some of our cubs want to do it all!

Meeting Schedule

The scouting year for Cub Scout Pack 1 mirrors the typical school year (Sep-May).

The Pack meets as a full group only once a month.  Typically, we meet on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM at Saint Mark’s Community Hall.

Dens usually meet monthly, often at a family's home or at an outing location (park, nature walk etc.).  Den meetings are scheduled by the den leadership in coordination with the parents.

Please refer to the GLAAC Covid Program Matrix for current guidelines.

Typically, when the Pack has a big outing or event, it replaces the monthly Pack meeting. We are aware that your cub scouts have lots of things drawing their attention, and we don’t want scouting to preclude their other activities.

Outdoor Adventures & Special Events

Cub Scout Pack 1 has a robust program offering activities that will satisfy and engage all:

Family camping trips to places like Catalina Island CampsCrazzy's Wasewagan Camp & Retreat, and Camp Trask, a scout facility operated by the Greater Los Angeles Area Council.

Pinewood Derby - The scouts build and race cars with their families.

Annual Blue and Gold Dinner - Our annual banquet where the oldest scouts cross the bridge to Boy Scouts.

Events are scheduled by pack leaders with input from all parents. If you have a particular interest, you can help the pack get your son engaged in fun activities that are not found on this list. Consider volunteering today!
